About me
From Saltford.
Politics student at Surrey.
A bit more about where I grew up, what I’ve studied, and what I spend my time on.
My story
A bit about me
I grew up in Saltford, a village between Bath and Bristol. It is a smaller community where you notice how local decisions are made and where they come from, which is probably what first got me interested in public life.
I studied Politics, History and English Literature at A-level at Kingswood School, where I was a Senior Prefect. I am now reading Politics at the University of Surrey.
Outside my degree, I am interested in public speaking, debating, and community activity. I have volunteered on local campaigns and have a long-standing interest in British politics and public affairs as a personal interest.
Timeline
A short timeline
At 15, I attended a political event on my own and asked a question in front of a live audience. An early step towards more serious public speaking.
Work experience in Parliament, shadowing an MP’s team and attending Prime Minister’s Questions. Started volunteering at Empire Fighting Chance, supporting boxing sessions and group activities for young people.
Gained experience supporting local campaign communications across the South West and West Midlands. A useful grounding in how grassroots communication actually works.
Awarded the William Cross Prize for Politics at Kingswood School in recognition of work I had put in over the previous few years. Completed A-levels and began at the University of Surrey in September.
Continuing my degree at Surrey alongside public speaking, debating, and community activity back home.
School & early experience
Before university
At Kingswood School, I was a Senior Prefect and took A-levels in Politics, History and English Literature. I ran for Bath Student Parliament, represented Australia in the UNESCO Committee at Model United Nations, and took every chance I could to practise public speaking. I also attended local council meetings to see how decisions are actually made. From September 2023, I volunteered at Empire Fighting Chance, supporting boxing sessions and group activities for young people in Bristol.
